Selling your Shades of Us Products:

The best way to sell your Shades of Us products is to let your friends and family participate in your adoption journey. Raising funds alone can be a daunting task. Recruit friends and family to help you, or ask your local schools or service clubs if they would like to be involved.

Create a display about your adoption journey that you can set up where you are selling. We suggest that your price be a "suggested minimum donation" per item. A great way to encourage larger sales is to bundle them into sets.

Our Sales Packet will help provide you with the tools you need to be successful.

Great Places to Sell Your Items:

  • Bucket Brigade or Pail Sale: Ask your friends, family and community to participate in a Bucket Brigade or Pail Sale on your child's behalf! Shades of Us can supply apple baskets or pails with personalized signs containing your adoption information. Once your items arrive, simply divide your products into your buckets and let your community do the rest!
  • Your Church: Ask your pastor for permission to speak briefly about why you are adopting. Speak from your heart and let people know how they can help. We suggest that you set up a table every Sunday for a month to provide ample time for all your church members to see.
  • Your workplace: Ask for permission to send an e-mail about what you are doing. Break rooms or the front counter are great places to put your products.
  • Local businesses: the larger the store, the larger the traffic volume. Approach your local Costco, Wal-Mart, etc. Smaller businesses may be willing to put your products by the cashier and sell on your behalf.
  • Vendor Fairs: Look for a schedule of fairs in your area, including farmer's markets and seasonal events. For a fee, you can reserve a booth space to sell your items. The key here is to try to get as much of what you need donated. Ask that the event to waive your entry fee as a donation to your cause. Borrow tables, table cloths, etc. so that the donations you receive for your products will go directly to your adoption costs.
  • Schools and College Campuses : We have had a terrific response from college age students, who are very conscious about social causes. You might even find a group who wants to participate as a project! Student squares or large student events make a great place to set up.
  • Large, Public Venues: Try concerts halls and theaters, theme parks, sporting events, expo centers, fairgrounds or airports. Be sure to have permission!
